Rutgers Announces Equine Pasture Walk Workshop

Rutgers Cooperative Extension and Equine Science Center are pleased to announce an educational “Equine Pasture Walk” workshop on Wednesday, July 29, 2015.  This workshop will take place at the Ryders Lane Best Management Practices Demonstration Horse Farm in New Brunswick, NJ from 5:30 to 8:00pm.  Rutgers pasture experts will discuss some new cutting-edge grazing research comparing continuous and rotational grazing systems.  Participants will learn how they can evaluate their own pastures using techniques from the study such as soil sampling, forage sampling, understanding these test results, measuring forage height, and identifying grasses and weeds.  Participants will see the visual differences between rotationally and continuously grazed systems in addition to hearing some data from the study.  It is sure to be a fascinating evening, so please join us and bring your pasture management questions!

Registration is $10 payable by cash or check (made out to “Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey”).  Light snacks and refreshments will be available, but no meal.  Please see registration form attached.  Contact Laura Kenny with questions at kenny@aesop.rutgers.edu.  Directions to the farm are available at http://esc.rutgers.edu/research/ryders-lane-farm/directions/. Google Maps is accurate if you search for “Equine Research Facility, New Brunswick, NJ.”
