Perpetual Trophies

The origin of the Perpetual Trophies was at a large, annual horse show held at Lazelle and Frederick Knocke’s Hobby Horse Hill Farm. The show was a benefit for the Family Nursing Service which provided badly-needed healthcare to local people. With their help, the Eastern States Dressage Association (ESDA) was founded in 1969, eventually becoming the Eastern States Dressage and Combined Training Association (ESDCTA).

Over the years, farms, organizations and individuals have donated trophies. There are currently 20 Perpetual Trophies. Recipients include well-known professionals, amateurs and juniors. Each rider and horse deserve recognition for the role they played in promoting the growth of equestrian sport. The Perpetual Trophies are awarded at the ESDCTA Memorial Weekend Show as a salute to our heritage and a nod to the spirit of ESDCTA’s founding members.

As you scroll down and make a selection, you will see a listing of each trophy that includes a brief history of the donor, award criteria and a complete list of past award recipients… perhaps it is your time to make some history of your own.
